All Congress All the Time

Two quick thoughts:

1) On the line-item veto, enhanced recession authority, or whatever you want to call it, I’m simply dumbfounded that they would even consider this.  Mark my words; this is a dumb idea, really dumb.  It was dumb in 1996 when they gave the power to Pres. Clinton, its dumb now.  There is a saying in my office, “the dumber the idea, the greater the chance of passage.”   Is Congress nuts?  What ever happened to institutional interests, never mind institutional loyalty?  I’ve got lots to say about this but no time right now.  Rest assured, however, there is a lengthy post in the near future.

2) Read Norman Orenstein’s column in today’s Washington Post.  Brilliant; simply brilliant.
